Guitar Lessons

Lessons are conducted one to one in pleasant, large studio surroundings in Witchford. Most electric and acoustic guitar styles are taught. Learn to play anything from Bob Dylan to Metallica and everything else in between! For specific requests please feel free to enquire. There is no requirement to be able to read music to begin learning the guitar, however as pupils progress, basic music theory relating to the guitar is covered.

The youngest acceptable age to start learning to play guitar is age 6; there is no upper age limit. Please note that Dave Webster is fully CRB checked. Up to date verification is available on request.

A word of warning – Whilst taking tips from and watching guitar video tuition clips on the internet can be useful for reinforcement and back up of formal tuition. It should not be used as a substitute for proper, qualified, one to one guitar lessons. Bad playing habits are quickly and easily learned, plus difficult and costly to undo in terms of time and money.

Guitar Teaching Method

Students are physically shown the various techniques required to enable them to play the guitar. This information is backed up in written form, using easy to read chord diagrams and tablature. Pupils are taught how to read guitar tablature as part of their course, this is both relatively easy and quick to learn. As pupils progress, they are encouraged to make use of our studio facilities for performance and recording, enabling reinforcement of what they have previously learnt and of course to have some fun making music.

Guitar Tuition – Objectives

  • Enable pupils to attain their realistic personal musical ambition.
  • Create new skills using the guitar for beginners and improve existing skills for intermediate or advanced players.
  • Help pupils maintain enthusiasm for the guitar and their chosen path of study.

Guitar Lessons – Commitment – The Teacher and You the Pupil

The Teacher commits to putting aside time to prepare lessons that are suitable for the individual and of course time to conduct them. Quite often this commitment on behalf of the teacher, will involve working many unsocial hours and having to remain “flexible” in their working method.

The Pupil commits to putting aside time for regular guitar lessons and practice, also being considerate of the teacher’s time.
